19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after that period of that year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, comprising in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a decider.

He defended 4 initial chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
