Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in power within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then cleared his obligations and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could help the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

From episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Audiences can look forward to learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
