'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith resumes contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the dramatic closing stages of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses after the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range effort from outside the box, and his teammate quickly converted the deflection before racing off toward the home end to celebrate, with fans mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory capped an incredible turnaround given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 midway through the latter period. Amid the delirium, there was some collateral damage. He shared, "There was a fan shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result secured a upcoming match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about way out going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that far out," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right flank after they changed formation. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way the underdogs approached the match.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they always find their target and they know how to manage and neutralize a game. You can feel you're all right and then without warning they will just thread a ball through a line without you even seeing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and concentration just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a popular figure across a couple of years at his former club and has swiftly done the same in his new home. At Orient he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a loan at League Two Salford City, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a slightly green going into men's football. I think many athletes would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without much intensity. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has shown that maturation for club and country, performing well for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including both legs fixtures against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his eye for a killer pass.

Early Days

This marks an incredible journey for the kid from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's single match for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was shut owing to temperatures of -15C. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was cold out there," he comments, smiling. "The week before, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "This turned out fairly simple, because I reached the point where I knew I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it got to the point where I felt I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, the drivers, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has got his license. It's nice to interact with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the following person to stop using the bus and driving. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on the Tube after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
