A person who laced treats with tranquilliser and provided them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual crimes against two young males who were nine and 10.

Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and an older person experienced illness at the location in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was against a young boy.

The defendant was kept in jail prior to a additional proceeding on late November.

'Treat game'

Mary Prior KC, handling the case, detailed Ruben's offending to the judicial body.

She said his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer program which he ran.

The man played a "candy game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior said, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".

She stated to the judge the man had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.

She stated the man had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had worries in summer 2025.

Mrs Prior KC added: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about the activities, with valid cause.

"They resolved" to investigate in the man's possessions."

The prosecutor explained objects including lubricant, ointment and syringes were located, and his stepson contacted the authorities about his worries.

She said the defendant continued to engage in the "treat game" with six youngsters that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she stated further.

The police watchdog, the investigative body, had stated that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the incident.

The legal representative said the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson contacted the police once more.

She said the man then engaged in the "sweet game" in a area of five children.
